Self-Leadership: The 7 C's

Can you describe your experience with self-leadership? Can you do it on your own, or do you need direction? There is no correct response; rather, each person has their own opinion. Being able to lead oneself is a skill that can be taught. Do you excel at taking the helm yourself, or would you rather have someone else steer the ship?

Self-Leadership: what does it mean?

Self-leadership involves taking charge of one's own mind and one's own life in order to achieve one's goals and create a fulfilling existence. Though you may seek advice from others, it is ultimately up to you to make decisions, inspire yourself to take action, and celebrate your achievements.

Here are the 7 critical C's of Self-Leadership

The 8 C's of Self-Leadership can be thought of as a framework for a more comprehensive definition of self-leadership. There are eight characteristics shared by highly effective leaders. The more capable you are of self-guiding, self-motivating, and self-disciplining, the more likely you are to achieve your highest ambitions.

Let's quickly examine these eight features. Rate your self-leadership abilities on a scale of 1–10. What are some ways that you can better yourself?

Confidence

Do you have faith in your ability to make choices, implement strategies, and take the helm during trying times? We prioritized confidence because it is indispensable for taking charge of one's own life. Believe that you are acting in your own best interest and are prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve your goals. You can't lead yourself to success if you don't have faith in your own judgment or ability to take charge.

Calmness

Can you keep your cool and your wits about you when the going gets rough? Excellent leaders don't react hastily, even when something triggers their emotions. They are rational enough to evaluate the situation objectively and choose the course of action that will yield the best results. They maintain composure in the face of chaos caused by stress, uncertainty, disappointment, anxiety, and overload on the part of those around them.

Clarity

Are you able to recognize your own prejudices and preconceptions and then set them aside in order to form an objective, nuanced assessment of a situation? Everyone is predisposed to their own set of values and opinions. Smart leaders make a constant effort to acknowledge both their own and their team members' strengths. They make an effort to see everything clearly, from the big picture down to the smallest details, so that they can make rational decisions.

Curiosity

Do you have an interest in learning about new things and expanding your mind? Leaders keep an inquisitive mindset and are always looking to expand their knowledge. They do their research when they encounter something that challenges their beliefs or is simply unfamiliar. They understand there is always a chance to gain new knowledge and skills.

Creativity

When you tackle a problem, do you think of novel solutions? Self-leaders are creative problem-solvers who push beyond the status quo to develop novel approaches and swiftly implement them. Being creative is often what sets you apart from the pack and makes you successful in business, dating, and other areas. Self-leadership is easier if you have a creative spirit and the courage to pursue your own ideas, but not everyone is comfortable going against the grain and trying things that are seen as novel or strange.

Connectedness

How much do you identify with a group? Though self-leadership necessitates a great deal of solitary reflection and initiative, it does not discount the value of collaborative planning and execution. Self-leaders who understand their role in a larger group are more likely to contribute to the team's success.
